In Michael's Car

Michael: On today's to do list, I've got a panel to speak at at the uh, Big Sky Documentary Film Fest, uh, and then I've gotta finish up sound for Crash Course and then work on Brain Scoop. Maybe I'll go to the gym. We'll see.

Walking in Romaines

Michael: But first, a salad at Romaines.

Conference/Lecture Room

Michael: We just finished talking on a panel to a bunch of people in this room about Youtube. And um, this is Nick's bio. Uh, says that he received a uh, what, what's a D Phil?

Nick: A Doctor Phil? No.

Michael: You received a Doctor Phil?

Nick: Oh, a Doctorate of Philosophy.

Michael: Ok.

Nick: From Oxford after teaching at Harvard. I co-directed modernism as.. I'm, I'm so much more interesting that I thought I was.

Michael: I don't, where'd they get this bio?

Nick: I don't know. I wanna know who this is.

Michael's Apartment

Michael: There's this sound that plays in Crash Course when terms and stuff come up.

Hank in Video: ...messages, and if it degrades as it does with those effected with...

Michael: It's pretty subtle, um, but by itself, it sounds like this.

(noise)

Michael: And that little static-ey, click-ey noise in the background is actually the sound of neurons firing in a monkey's brain. And now you know!

In Michael's Car

Michael: We just worked out. We did some of those things and those other things and then some of the things with the...

Katelyn: Slow things?

Michael: Yeah, those things.

Michael's Apartment

Michael: In the episode of Crash Course that went live today, uh, when I was doing the sound design, there's this one part where Hank screams at the camera. He's talking about, uh, like adrenaline and the idea is to scare the audience so that they experience this adrenaline rush. Um, but I, I replaced his scream with a sound of a baboon screeching and I'm enjoying the comments on this video of people, um, talking about how much it scared them.

(laughter)

Michael: Stefan is going over his Youtube channel stats.

Stefan: What?

Michael: What have you learned?

Stefan: Don't, what? This is top secret information.

Michael: They can't see it.

Stefan: So then I could just lie.

Michael: Yeah, tell them about the millions of subscribers that you've gotten.

Stefan: No, I won.. ok, so 71% of the people that watch me are ladies.

Michael: La la.

Stefan: But half of the ladies are under the age of 18.

Michael: How does that make you feel?

Stefan: I think I'm too inappropriate for that age group. I also, I made in the last 30 days from ads, I made 14 cents.

(both laughing)

(noise from video editing)

Michael: I've been editing Brain Scoop stuff for a couple hours now and my brain is starting to get a little bit fried. But I don't know what to do to like, chill out because it's almost 3 in the morning. A bunch of people in the comments from yesterday's video are suggesting that I go buy a toaster and I own a toaster. I purchased a toaster, um, but Katelyn took it over to her apartment so that is why we don't have one here. I think most importantly when traveling, you just have to be flexible because there's every possibility that something will go wrong with your travel plans and that's ok. It's not the end of the world. I've had to spend a few nights in a few different airports for various reasons and it kinda sucks but, you know, I try to make the best of it. Make friends with people in the airport, find a 24 hour McDonald's, something. The rough cut of this episode of Brain Scoop is done so Emily should be able to look at it and see how she feels about it and I think now is time for me to sleep.
