Transcript[edit | edit source]

(Beth Casagrande is at a second floor of a mall with a store called Papyrus behind her on the first floor.)

Beth: Hi, I’m Beth, that’s Papyrus, and you’re watching WhatImDoingRightNow.

(Beth's friend pokes her finger into the frame and Beth laughs.)

("Intro" plays over the opening title screen.)

Kelsey Cote's Parents' Vacation Home

Kelsey Cote: It’s my last day of vacation, so I’m in my bikini. Maybe I’ll go out by the pool.

(Dance music plays over a Moments Later screen.)

Kelsey: It’s really cold outside, actually. I’m not gonna go in the pool. I’m gonna go run, since it’s cool and I won’t overheat and feel like I’m running 20 miles when I’m only running two. So, I’m gonna go run! Michael said he was gonna go run, but I don’t know if he actually is.

Michael Aranda's Apartment Complex – 9:48 AM MDT

Michael Aranda: It’s time for a jog. Katelyn?

Katelyn Salem: Yes?

Michael: How many miles would you like to jog?

Katelyn: I was just gonna ask you that.

Michael: How about 8 miles?

Katelyn: That’s too many.

Michael: Too many? How many is not too many?

Katelyn: Six.

Michael: Six miles? Okay.

Katelyn: (Laughing) Is that what we’re gonna do?

Michael: I guess.

Kelsey Cote's Parents' Vacation Home

Kelsey: So, I just ran three and a half miles. As soon as I finished and started walking back to the house, uh... it became very warm and sunny. (Laughing) So now I get to go sit by the pool and, uh, relax.

So in the process of doing these videos, after I film it I go into the app and then I check it to see, like, if I was in the frame or, like, if it was totally awful and I need to do it again. Especially the last video, I watched it and I was like, “Oh my god, my skin looks bad”. I felt the need to go put on makeup and do it again, and I was like, “No, that’s ridiculous. I shouldn’t care about that”, and so I thought I would, like, take a second to talk about the fact that I very much acknowledge that I have really bad acne. If you go watch the... first month of vlogs that I’m in, you can see how bad it is. A lot of it now is dark marks and scarring and redness, but, like, it’s not actually acne. I’ve been on plenty of different medications for it, and right now I’m on two oral medications for it, and, by far, it’s, like, completely cleared everything. And so, like, I don’t know how to do makeup. I always feel better when I put on makeup, because I have—I get to, like, cover all of that. I know it’s a thing, and, like, obviously people notice. They’re like, “Oh, her skin looks really patchy.” It’s something that I’m usually really insecure about, and I remember watching old vlogs and seeing my acne in it, and I was just like, "Oh my god. Like, I hope people don’t notice. Like, I hope people don’t look at it." That’s, uh... that’s my skin.

(Kelsey is now dressed up and has a large red hibiscus flower in her hair above her left ear.)

So, we’re about to go to dinner. We’re going to a place where the guy who owns it grew up in the same town in Illinois that my mom grew up in. He has become part of the family, and kind of like, uh, an uncle. And so, his name is Frank and he makes the best Italian food. So we’re gonna go to dinner there, and I’m going to fill up on lots of tasty carbs.

(Kelsey and her mom, Ann Cote, are sitting in their car in the driveway.)

Mom, are you, uh, excited to go to Frank’s?

Ann Cote: Always excited to go to Frank’s.

Kelsey: What are you gonna get there?

Ann: I’m getting the eggplant Parmesan and you can’t.

(Ann laughs while Kelsey looks blankly stunned.)

Kelsey: That’s not okay. The eggplant Parmesan is my favorite! That is what I always get. Eggplant Parmesan with no cheese, and the... the other sauce.

Ann: You can’t have it today! There’s only one portion left.

(Ann laughs.)

Kelsey: There’s only one order.

Ann: One portion left, and it’s mine.

Kelsey: What if you just got something else because you love me, and, uh... you want me to have... the tasty food that I like?

Ann: Alright...

Kelsey: Deal?

Ann: Deal.

Kelsey: Okay, thank you.

Ann: Welcome.

Kelsey: I love you.

Ann: Love you too.

Kelsey: Okay.

Italian Restaurant

Kelsey: So, uh... they know us here, and so they brought us dessert before they brought us, uh...

Ann: Anything else.

Kelsey: Anything else.

So this place gives huge portions. And not only do they give huge portions, but they also give a lot of different portions. So, if you order something you get bread, obviously; they make fresh bread in-house. And then you get soup or salad. And then you get the thing that you ordered. And then you also get just a side of pasta, which is crazy because by the time you eat all the bread and all the soup and salad, you don’t have room for your dinner. And then by the time you eat dinner, you practically don’t have room for dessert.

(Kelsey says the names of the courses as the camera shows each one.)

Bread. Soup. More bread.

(Kelsey points at a plate of pasta with two large pieces of breaded chicken on top of it.)

I know this doesn’t look like a lot, but it is so much. It is just so much food.

Kelsey Cote's Parents' Vacation Home

So we just got home from dinner, and dinner was awesome. Like I said, we know the people there. They ended up bringing out more pasta than what I showed you guys, so we got a lot of leftovers to take home. I leave for Missoula tomorrow morning, which means I get to see Michael tomorrow.

(Kelsey shakes her head and make an excited, but hushed yell.)

But, um... I’m gonna relax for the rest of my evening and, uh... maybe I’ll film my journey home tomorrow. Good night vlog!

(A synth drones over the Sunday April 2, 2017 screen.)

Katelyn Salem's Jeep – 11:48 AM MDT

(Katelyn yawns as she looks at the camera. She is wearing a denim jacket with patches on it and jeans that match.)

Michael: You’re wearing denim.

Katelyn: A lot of denim. You know what denim reminds me of?

Michael: What does denim remind you of?

Katelyn: The 90’s.

Michael: The 90’s?

Katelyn: Mhm.

Michael: Why are you dressed like the 90’s?

Katelyn: Because I’m gonna be in a cooking show that is based... (laughing) on a 90’s cooking show.

Michael: (Laughing) Oh.

(Michael has a Styrofoam half-sphere in his lap that has various red colored fillings layered to look like a cross-section of the Earth.

Is this what you’re cooking?

Katelyn: That’s what I’m cooking.

Michael: Mmm.

(A drum beat plays over a shot of Katelyn taking a half sphere of cake out of a bowl and placing it on top of a different half-sphere of Styrofoam. She cuts some of the bottom of the cake off to make it flat.)

Michael: Would you like some cake, Todd?

Todd: Not that cake.

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport

(Kelsey walks across the tarmac to the plane she is about to get on. The camera shows the view from her seat of the inside of the plane.)

Missoula International Airport

Kelsey: I don’t know what happened, but I got really sick on that plane. And I’ve never been sick on a plane before. My body got really hot. And I got really shaky and sweaty, and I felt really nauseous. And I was, like, eyeing down the puke-bag in front of me. And I was like “Oh no, I don't want to puke”. And, like, I’ve never been motion sick before. As soon as we, uh... landed I immediately whipped my phone out and I just texted Michael. I was like “I don't know what’s wrong but I’m gonna puke.” I’m just waiting for him to pick me up right now but, uh... that wasn’t fun.

Synema Studios Office

(Michael walks out to his car.)

Michael: I just ate some pizza!

(Michael makes a pop noise and then a whooshing noise to accompany the +1 Pizza popup.)

Today we’re going to attempt to get all of the indoor stuff that we need for Kate Tectonics episode four. And then in two weekends, we’re going to try to get all of the outdoor stuff for episode four.

Michael Aranda's Ford Mustang

Katelyn: While Katelyn and Todd are still getting ready for our Kate Tectonics shoot, I’m running down to the airport to pick up Kelsey, who just came back from her Arizona adventure.

(Michael stretches across the passenger seat to look down the sidewalk outside Missoula International Airport.)

Don’t see Kelsey waiting... I wonder if she’s inside still?

Kelsey: Like I was getting really hot, then I started getting really shaky. I was like “Wow, I don’t feel good” and so I, like, turned the fan on and I was like, “I cannot cool down. I’m really shaky, I feel like I’m going to puke.” And I was, like, eyeing down the puke bag in front of me and I was like “I don’t want this to happen!” It was like the last five minutes of the plane ride.

Michael: I think it was when I was flying back from... Chicago once, I just, like, felt like I started getting cold sweats. I thought “Oh, I just needed more air blowing on me.”

Kelsey: Yeah! (Laughing) I was like “I just need the fan!”

Michael: And like I-I-I had to concentrate really hard to be like, “I don’t want to throw up. I don’t want to throw up. I don’t want to throw up.” And, like, at least when I start feeling like I’m about to throw up, the back of my mouth and my tongue starts getting tingly, like it’s anticipating really sour something.

(Kelsey laughs.)

Michael: So I-I could kinda feel that happening. But I—I didn’t. I don’t know why that happened because I don’t normally get...

Kelsey: No, I’ve never been—

Michael: Air-sick? Plane-sick? What is the term of...?

Kelsey: Motion sickness.

Michael: Motion sickness in airplanes

Kelsey: I’ve never had that before and I mean, I’ve flown tons.

Michael: Did you have a good trip? I’m excited to see all the things that you did. I have not see the footage yet.

Kelsey: I did a lot more than I thought I was going to do. But when you gave me the phone, the memory was at 100%. Now at least past half way.

Michael: Well, I’m glad you’re home

Kelsey: Awww...

(Kelsey is no longer in the car.)

Michael: I dropped Kelsey off. I’m headed back to the office now so we can shoot this episode of Kate Tectonics. I’m experiencing a weather phenomenon that I don’t think I have before in my life, wherein it is currently sunny and snowing. It’s melting as soon as it hits the ground, but in the air it’s definitely little snowflakes. I have experienced rain while it is sunny before—we call those sun showers—but I have never had a... sun-snow? I don’t know what that would be called. I was going to say snow shower, but that doesn’t have anything to do with the sun.

Synema Studios Office

(Katelyn has an apron and chef's hat over her jean jacket and pants. The Kate Tectonics set is dressed with various cooking supplies and utensils.)

Katelyn: Am I just doing, like, random cooking things?

Michael: I’m imagining just random poses more than cooking things. Like if you grab the roller as if it’s an umbrella over your shoulder doing a photoshoot type thing, if that makes sense.

(Katelyn picks up a hand towel and drapes it over her left shoulder.)

Michael: What is that? Oh!

(Katelyn picks up a rolling pin and slings it over her shoulder to pose for the camera.)

Sarah Meismer: I might do like a slow—Do you want a slow push in on it?

Michael: Uh... every other shot that I’ve done has had a slow zoom.

Sarah: I’m rolling.

Katelyn: Should I do like?

(Katelyn looks at the camera, gives a thumbs up, and flashes a cheesy smile.)

Todd: (Laughing) And I just heard this thing like...

Michael: Winding up!

Todd: Winding up!

Sarah: Yeah, do a couple of those!

Todd: I like—I like the idea of you, like—like, with your back turned and you just turn around and smiling at the camera.

(Katelyn laughs.)

Katelyn: Like this one?

(Katelyn faces the wall, places the rolling pin against her left shoulder, then turns around and gives a thumbs up to the camera while smiling.)

Todd: Yeah!

(Todd laughs.)

Yeah.

(The camera shows Katelyn's laptop sitting on a chair in the corner of the Kate Tectonics set room, which is livestreaming what is happening.)

Michael: We have a live stream going on right now for Kate Tectonics. So, uh, people who give to the Kate Tectonics Patreon

(Todd claps.)

can watch us film, live!

Todd: Way to go. Give-give–Link-Link in the description for you to give your donations.

Katelyn: Thanks, Todd.

Todd: Mhm.

Sarah: Phantom power’s on.

Michael: Phantom power’s on!

(Todd claps again.)

Todd: Let’s do this guys, let’s do this!

(Michael, Sarah, Todd, and Katelyn are walking out of the building to get something to eat.)

Michael: We’re halfway done through the shoot day. It’s time to get some Chipotle.

Sarah Meismer: Oooo.

Michael: You like that rhyme?

Todd: Half day, Chipotle? It rhymes!

(A rust green Rambler Ambassador is parked in the parking lot.)

Michael: Whose vehicle is this?

Todd: I don’t know, I like it. I asked if he’s upgraded from the blueberry And she said—

Sarah Meismer: Not an upgrade!

Todd: It's not an upgrade.

(Michael grunts.)

Katelyn Salem's Jeep

Todd: Michael, we were talking about when I... get my teefers taken out...

Michael: When you get your teefers?

Todd: Yeah, my wisdom teefers?

Michael: Your wisdom teefers?

Katelyn: Your teefers?

Todd: Yes. You picking me up.

Michael: I mean, that does sound like comedy gold waiting to happen.

Todd: Ugh! I’m a little stressed out to be honest 'cause I don’t know what I’ll say.

Michael: If it makes you feel any better, I vlogged the wisdom teeth pulling out experience—

Todd: It doesn’t make me feel better, at all.

Michael: So... I’m just saying that, like, you don’t have to think about it in terms of putting yourself out there alone.

Todd: Oh ok.

Michael: I’m out there with you.

Todd: And—and the kid who wasn’t sure this was real life. We’ll see if I cry.

Katelyn: (In a child-like voice) Is this... Is this real life?

Michael: When is this gonna happen?

Todd: Within the next month or so, and it needs to happen soon-ish. There was a few places I called to see if my insurance—They’re not in my insurance network, but they take my insurance and I asked, “Well, what’s—what’s the difference?” And they're like, “Well, we’re just more expensive.” I’m like, “Ok, thanks, bye!”

Katelyn: Does the dentist you go to... do surgeries?

Michael: I don’t know.

Todd: I met a Doctor Love once.

Katelyn: (Seductively) Doctor Looove

todd: Yeah.

(Dance music plays over a One Chipotle Later screen.)

Synema Studios Office

(The Earth cake now has blue and green frosting on it so it looks like Earth. It sits on a serving plate on the Kate Tectonics desk as Katelyn cleans the base of the dish.)

Michael: That’s a nice Earth cake you have there.

Katelyn: Thanks. I made it myself.

Michael: Maybe I should switch my phone into slow motion just in case it falls over, we can get it falling over in slow motion.

Katelyn: And it won’t be for nothing.

Todd: You can get the—the “Oh (Bleep)” real slow. (Imitating a slow motion voice) Slow-mo.

Katelyn: So now... this shot is I’m pulling this out of the oven and putting it on the thing?

Michael: Yup.

(Katelyn places the Styrofoam half-sphere with red layers inside it on the serving plate.)

Bottom half of our prop Earth cake is about to get its oceans and land masses.

Todd: They call it “frosting”—

Michael: Oooh.

Todd: —in the—in the professional world.

(An angelic sound plays over Katelyn spreading blue frosting to the Styrofoam half-sphere.)

Katelyn: Sounds tasty.

(The frosting covered half-Earth with layers inside it sits on the desk. Everyone has left the room.)

Michael: Okay. We finished filming for the day. We still have a few more shots that we’re gonna get on Tuesday, but that’s it for tonight. Everyone’s tired.

Katelyn: I'm so tired.

Michael: It was a long day, but, uh... we made progress! Progress is good.

Katelyn: We made progress and a mess.

(The camera shows the top half of the cake Earth sitting neatly on the table, while the second Styrofoam bottom half is frosting down in a bowl next to it. A big smear of blue frosting covers the table, as well as the Ethernet cable on it.)

("Outro" plays over the end screen.)
