Transcript[edit | edit source]
Michael: It's Friday, the weekend is here. Every weekend I invariably find myself thinking, 'Wow, now I finally have time to study.' Today I've got calculus, turning in my homework assignment. I left the house kind of late today, so I have six minutes to make it into the parking lot, I found that if I make it into the parking lot by 9 o'clock, I can make it across campus to the math building by 9:10, which is when the class actually starts. It's probably fine. My calculus professor seems pretty laid back. But I still feel bad about walking into class late. I guess if I walk really fast, maybe I'll get there on time.
Calculus Professor: How was Friday morning for everybody?
Michael: The best.
Calculus Professor: The best?
Uh, so you should have a homework assignment for me? How'd it go? How was it?
Michael: The ones with the uh, where you have to calculate rotational speed, are the ones that get me.
I just, uh, left my computer science lab. I'm feeling okay about what's happening in calculus right now. Sort of, kind of understanding everything.
Maybe just fifteen minutes ago, the people that make that FiLMiCPro app that we all know and love sent me a beta copy of the next version that they're going to release. Um, and it seems to have fixed the major issues that I was complaining about. Some of you noticed that when it was using the front facing camera, it was flipping the image around. In post, I would try to go and flip it right side around again but, uh, sometimes I forgot and neither Logan nor I noticed. So, there were a few shots that were backwards. That problem has been remedied. I discovered that it was only doing that when the resolution of the front facing camera was set higher than 1280x720. In this version of the app, they seem to have removed the ability to set the resolution that high at all, so it's theoretically impossible to make it do that. Anyway, I'm on my way to my favorite sandwich place in Missoula, Tagliare. Imma get some sandwiches for Stefan and me.
Last night as I was falling asleep, I was thinking about the progression of this channel and, I think I've mentioned before, how, over time, it's gotten closer and closer to what I wanted my main channel to originally be. And I was thinking about 'Where is this going?' 'What is the ultimate goal for WhatImDoingRightNow?' And I've realized that I'm basically making The Truman Show, starring myself. I spend so much time thinking about, 'Oh, I could permanently install a camera in my car, or stick cameras all over the house and then have a multi-camera editing thing so that I never miss a thing.' It's like a weird exercise in lack of privacy. I think it would be awesome to be making enough money with this channel that I could pay a team of camera people and editors, uh, and probably a few directors and a few producers, to just constantly be filming all of the time, constantly be editing, all of the time, so that nothing ever gets missed. Then on the other hand, you have to think about like, certainly the people in my life aren't interested in having their lives broadcast 24/7. I don't know. We'll see. As this thing grows, we'll see how far I can push it. How ridiculous it'll get.
Stefan: And then, wherever the poop is leaving your body, that's the anus.
Caitlin: Yeah.
Stefan: That describes the hole through which poop leaves the body.
Caitlin: Mmhmm
Stefan: Okay.
Michael: Very interesting scientific conversations here at Sci Show, brought to you by diet Dr Pepper.
It's Friday. I'm gonna get ice cream. Delicious. Carbs on carbs on carbs.
Within just a few minutes of getting home, I had passed out on the couch back there. Uh, so now, uh, it is 9 o'clock. I've got two hours to finish this online calculus assignment. Here we go.
A fifteen foot ladder is leaning against a wall. If the top slips down the wall at a rate of two feet a second, how fast will the foot be moving away from the wall when the top is thirteen feet above the ground? Apparently the foot of the ladder will be moving away from the wall at a speed of 13 divided by the square root of 14, feet per second.
I'm like halfway done with this homework assignment, and it was supposed to be turned in in nine minutes, it's 10:51 right now. Um, I noticed when I refreshed one of the pages that all of a sudden it said due Monday April 27th at 11pm, which is three days from now, which is not what it said earlier. So I checked my student e-mail and there's an e-mail from the professor saying "I extended the due date on homework ten to Monday 4/27 at 11pm." So, that's lucky, I guess.
