Transcript[edit | edit source]

Michael Aranda's Apartment

Michael: Is this yours?

Stefan: No.

Michael: Oh. It must be Katelyn's. Baby Lips.

EcoGeek Office

Michael: On Tuesdays, we shoot Scishow. Today, Hank is out so I'm filling in. This is Lou. He films Scishow things. Stefan's supposed to be here soon as well to do the script supervision.

Michael Aranda's Apartment

Michael: We filmed SciShow News and then we had a company meeting about all things CrashCourse and SciShow and VidCon and Subbable.

They sold out of half--more than half of the available VidCon tickets. So... I guess if you haven't done that yet, you should probably get your VidCon ticket.

I got two things in the mail today. The first was the gold vinyl edition of Linkin Park's Meteora which nicely compliments my clear vinyl special edition of the Hybrid Theory album.

The other thing is this, uh, which is a firewire card for my computer, which is really great news 'cause this computer that I built, uh, doesn't have a firewire card at this point. Which I didn't even really realize until I tried to plug something in here, and it wasn't working, and it took me forever to realize that, um, the other end of that jack is right here and doesn't plug into anything on the motherboard.

I don't know if you can see any of this because it's super dark over here, but some of this music equipment I have needs to plug into the computer via firewire. And I haven't been able to do that, but today, finally.

'Kay. Let's see what happens. It's alive!

Okay, if I did this correctly, I should be able to turn on these monitors here, and sound should come out of them.

'Kay, I'm gonna give it a test. (beat plays) Oh wow! It works! Stefan, it works!

Stefan: (scream)

(Michael's arrangement of "Angels We Have Heard On High" plays)

Michael: That was the Christmas song I was working on for 2013, but ended up not having time to finish. Uh, so maybe I'll finish it for next year, but I'm super happy that now I can actually like, hear things out of these speakers.

4,830 files were added to my DropBox folder? That's... that's a lot of files.

The cat has claimed your jacket. Just think of all of the fur he's getting all over it. (laughs)

Stefan: Good kitty. Good kitty. Good boy.

Michael: What're you working on in here?

Stefan: A song.

Michael: Can we get a little sneak peak? Little tasterino?

Stefan: No.

Michael: Okay.

Michael Aranda's Apartment Complex

Michael: We're walking to the movie theater to see "Her", and by we, I mean Katelyn and me because Stefan said it was too cold. So he drove.

Katelyn: It's so cold. Why did I let you talk me into doing this?

Michael: I didn't try to talk you into anything! I was just like, 'I'm gonna walk.'

Katelyn: Oh yeah.

Michael: And then you said, 'Well I guess I better button up my jacket.' That is exactly what happened.

Carmike 12 Movie Theater

Stefan: I say 'her'. Hurr.

Michael: What can you say?

Stefan: No I can't say it.

Michael: Oh.

Stefan: I can't say this online.

Michael: Uh oh.

We've been joined by Matt and Kristen. I guess we'll tell you how it was in about two hours.

Stefan: Yeah.

Michael: We just finished watching "Her", and it was really good.

Stefan: Really good.

Michael: I think everybody--oh, Caitlin Hofmeister joined us.

Caitlin: Hi!

Michael: Um, but I think everybody really liked it. Everybody really liked it?

Matthew: We did!

Katelyn: Yeah, it was super emotional. Very roller coaster-y.

Matthew: I cried a little.

Michael: Just a little?

Katelyn: Yeah, I was like, my throat was all tense and stuff.

Stefan: I almost got there.

Matthew: Not at the regular moment you guys probably did though.

Kristen: You cried when you had to go to the bathroom.

Stefan: That's why I went before the theater.

Michael: Um, it uh... it kind of reminds of Forest Gump in that...

Stefan: What?

Michael: Not having to do any... not anything to do with the plot. But that movie relies so heavily on special effects that you don't notice it because they're like inserting him in stuff.

Matthew: You should go back and watch Forest Gump. The effects are not well done.

Michael: I haven't watched it in a while. Um, but this movie, like I could tell that it relied pretty heavily on special effects, but it's all... kind of in the background. Like it's not, 'This is a special..." Like they're just putting him in a futuristic L.A. or like, the video game thing he's playing. I liked it.

Matthew: We all liked it.

Kristen: It's good.

Michael: Everybody liked it. Go see "Her". They should pay me to say this.

Kristen: Everybody should pay you to do everything.

Michael: Yeah I'm just going to think of all the ways that people should pay me.

Empty Field

Michael: I'm walking home, but no one else wanted to come with me because it was too cold. So Katelyn is driving with Stefan, and I'm all alone out here in this field. Wah, wah.

I doubt they'll show up, but the stars are pretty clear. I can see... Orion... uh, there's something really bright up there. I don't know if that's a planet or a star.

Michael Aranda's Apartment

Michael: I'm reading the comments from yesterday's video, and someone, uh, The Happy Plate suggested that I get a bacon sponsor. And that's the best idea that I think I've heard yet.

Stefan: That's right.

Michael: What are you righting about? Oh you're on the phone.

Stefan: Yeah, 'cause we're not psychotic.

Michael: Wah...

Stefan: So you're so lucky that we're not psychotic. Yeah.

Michael: Who are you talking to?

Stefan: My mom.

Michael: Why does your mom think we're psychotic?

Stefan: ... Huh?

Michael: I don't know what's going on.

Katelyn: What is this?

Stefan: (in the background) Oh yeah. Just some drugs.

Michael: This is the pen... the pen for the... for the tablet you were asking about the other day.

Katelyn: Ohhh.

Hank Green's House

Michael: Look who it is! Hey, cat. You know what time it is? It's time to get petted on your bum.

Cameo: (meows in protest)

Michael: (meows back) Sorry, just had to.

Michael Aranda's Apartment

Michael: Qdoba just broke my heart. I drove all the way across town to go to Qdoba. Got there 20 minutes before they closed. They still had their open sign on. I walked in and the girl was like, 'Mmm, we kinda closed up already.'

Katelyn: She put the plastic over the veggies already. She can't take off that plastic.

Michael: They just opened that Qdoba. They should be bending over backwards to win the hearts and minds of the Missoula citizens.

Katelyn: Well, I think if they're not going to serve anybody, they should lock the doors. That way people just can't get in.

Michael: Well I think they... if they're gonna wrap all the vegetables up, they should have at least turned off the little open light.

Katelyn: Yeah, somehow, you know, let you know, no, we're not going to serve you right now. Fifteen minutes before closing time, but we're not going to serve you.

Michael: I don't know if my relationship with Qdoba is going to... to survive this... this setback.

Tomorrow's episode of The Brain Scoop is rendering, and when it's done, I can go to sleep.

Right, cat? Right.
