Michael's Apartment
(truck beeping)
In Michael's Car
Michael: It’s here, the last day of classes has arrived. Basically all I have today is, in my calculus class we are reviewing for the final. I wonder how long it takes to find out grades after the end of the semester. I don’t know how any of this college stuff works.
Calculus Classroom
Calculus Professor: So Somebody in a car accelerates uniformly from 0 to 60 over ten miles, the question is, how long did it take?
Michael's Apartment
Michael: Alright, I’m all done with all of my Crash Course and Sci Show stuff for the day. I have a computer science assignment due tonight that is extra credit, so if I want to do that, I can, but I don’t have to. So Claire doesn’t know this yet, but I ordered her an apple watch and the UPS man is over there, he’s got it in his truck, but he’s just sittin’ there. Why is he just sittin’ there?
He’s still just sitting there! Come on!! It’s the UPS man! He’s coming! He’s coming! Huh he went back, why? No. What are you doing?
(Index meows)
Michael: Kitty this is serious business.
(Stefan meows)
(Index meows)
Michael: Yeah, I know.
Yeah.
(Knock on door)
Michael: It’s here! Are you ready Claire?
Claire: I don’t know. (sighs)
Michael: Are you scared?
Claire: A little bit. It's kinda heavy. Is it carb, low carb bread?
Michael: It’s low carb bread.
Claire: Michael.
Michael: Yeah?
Claire: Why did you get me this? Are you sure it’s not yours?
Michael: Yep.
Claire: How do you know? Michael. I thought it was gonna be some like nerdy game thing.
Michael: I mean it’s kind of nerdy.
Claire: It is but it’s also expensive.
Michael: Index really likes Apple products.
Claire: (laughs) Why does he not like other types of products?
Michael: I don’t know but whenever someone has an Apple product specifically he snuggles up with it.
Claire: (gasps) look at it. (laughs)
Michael: It’s white.
Claire: What is this? Is this the case it comes in?
Michael: I don’t know.
Claire: Why?
Michael: This is the first Apple watch un-boxing I’ve ever watched.
Claire: I don’t think they want me to look at it. Ooo ahhh its pretty. How does it do things?
Michael: Well it goes on your wrist.
Claire: It’s so special. No! You can’t… have it.
Michael: He really likes Apple products
Claire: (laughs) It’s like a little tiny computer for my wrist.
Michael: Yeah.
Claire: I don’t know if I trust myself to carry a tiny computer on my wrist.
Michael: Is there a-
Claire: Accio phone.
Michael: A how to, how to do things, thing in here?
Claire: Oooh! Huh! Look! We always lose these.
Michael: Yeah.
Claire: There’s another one.
Michael: There’s the charger. To get started put on your apple watch. Install the latest version of iOS on your phone, then open the apple watch app on iPhone. It’s going to display a thing on your watch face.
Claire: Oh so that it can, yeah.
Michael: And then, it's like a
Claire: It can talk
Michael: QR code, but it's not actually a QR code.
Claire: How life proof are the screens here?
Michael: Um, they've got a pretty high hardness rating. There's videos on youtube of people trying to scratch them.
Claire: Okay. It's gonna tell me all the things about my fitness life!
Michael: Yeah.
Claire: Yeah. (laughs) Oops. Okay, try-
Michael: For some reason the, uh, little code that the camera sees wasn't showing up, so Claire is pairing it manually.
Claire: It said it paired. It did a thing. But that one's not doing anything. Set up Apple Watch.
Michael: So if you push this,
Claire: Mhmm
Michael: It should take you to your home screen.
Claire: Oh, what's this one do?
Michael: Um, this is a shortcut that shows you your friends, I'm not exactly sure how you set that up. Um, so like
Claire: Hmm, so it's just gonna be like Michael.
Michael: If you want quick access to contact someone that you contact frequently you can put them on this screen.
Put your watch down, it should turn off. If you just bring it up, it'll turn on.
Claire: Oh, cool.
Michael: And then, when you're on this screen, you push the crown, and it'll take you to your apps, and there you can move the thing around to find the apps that you want. On the phone you can organize them differently.
On A Jog
Michael: I accidentally took a nap, and now we're out jogging.
Michael's Apartment
Michael: Hi Claire.
Claire: Hello Michael.
Michael: How do you feel about your watch so far?
Claire: I love it! It's my little buddy.
Michael: Has it turned being active into a game for you?
Claire: I mean, yeah. I mean the withings app has already kind of made it a game. Like, I was thinking about like, the one thing I feel like will be the downfall with this is that since it is a sports watch, like, I'm not going to want to wear it with like, all of my outfits, or like, for all occasions. And that's gonna bother me, because then my data won't be accurate.
Michael: That's why you need to get new bands.
Claire: Yeah, I suppose. But even then it's like, I feel like the world isn't ready for screens to part of like, a nice outfit yet.
Michael: I don't know, I've seen some pretty classy pics.
Claire: Mmm, well, maybe I'll get new bands.
