The Chin's House

Todd Williams: Hi. My name is Todd, and this is currently what I’m doin’ right now.

(Todd points at Michael and then Katelyn.)

Todd: I’m hangin’ with this fella and this lady.

(Todd high-fives Katelyn and then Michael as he makes soft, happy noises.)

Todd: Ha! Huu!

("Intro" plays over the opening title screen.)

Outside the Chin's House – 5:05 AM PST

(Michael grunts as he gets into Katelyn's Jeep.)

Todd: (Over the walkie-talkie) Hello?

(Todd sits in his car to the left of the Jeep.)

Michael Aranda: (Into the walkie-talkie) Good morning, Todd.

Todd: Good morning, Michael.

Michael: How do you feel about McDonald’s for breakfast?

Todd: I say let’s get some crap in our tummies.

Michael: Roger.

Katelyn Salem's Jeep

Michael: We are embarking on our journey back to Missoula, Montana. Today, day 1, we’re just going to Salt Lake City and then tomorrow we’ll go the rest of the way. It’s just after 5 in the morning right now. We should make it to Vegas in about... 4 hours. There we’ll meet up with Nick, maybe have a little snack. And then go the rest of the way to Salt Lake City.

McDonald's Drive-thru

McDonald's Employee: (Through the speaker) Hi and welcome to McDonald’s. How can I help you?

Michael: Can I please get 3 bacon, egg, and cheese McGriddles?

McDonald's Employee: 3 bacon, egg, and cheese McGriddles, okay. Anything else?

Katelyn Salem: And also a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. And... just a cup of water.

Driving North on I-15 – 7:14 AM PST

Michael: I probably shouldn’t be, but I’m kinda surprised how many cars there are out here this early in the morning. I thought the beginning of this trip would be traffic-free.

(Intense percussive music plays over shots out of the car window of light coming over the horizon.)

Chevron Gas Station

Michael: Hey Todd. How’s your drive goin’?

(Todd gives a thumbs up.)

Michael: I just took a nap. Uhhh, my neck hurts a little bit.

Todd: Were you like this?

(Todd pulls his chin down to his chest and leans his head to his right.)

Michael: Yeahhhh.

(Katelyn closes the gas tank, shuts the door, then walks past Michael.)

Katelyn: Want a snack.

(Dance music plays over a 5 Minutes Later screen.)

La Quinta Inn & Suites Parking Lot

Michael: Todd, we made it to the La Quinta!

(Michael points the camera to the roof of the La Quinta's overhang, where a flock of birds is sitting.)

Michael: (Astonished) Look at all those birds up there! (To Todd) Can you scare them so they all fly away in a very dramatic shot?

Todd: You want me to... to get my way up there? To, uh—

Michael: Yeah, climb on up. Just, you know...

(Michael clicks his tongue twice as he points first along a pillar holding up the overhang, and then across the roof to the birds.)

Todd: (Loudly) Shoo!

Michael: Fly birds, fly!

Todd: Shoo!

Michael: Fly!

(Michael points into the sky at an airplane.)

Michael: Plane.

Nick just got into his car over there, we’re gonna get into our cars here, and we’re gonna drive to Sandy, Utah.

Driving North on I-15

(Repetitive bell tones with synth over the top play over shots of the Nevada desert. The synth continues under the dialogue at Del Taco.)

Del Taco – 9:39 AM PST

Michael: We’re at Del Taco and they have the Double Del Cheeseburger.

(Michael shows a spinning shot of the burger.)

(A flock of ducks walks around in the parking lot.)

Michael: There’s a bunch of ducks hanging outside of the Del Taco. Hey ducks!

Driving North on I-15

(The dramatic synth music crescendos over shots of snow along the interstate and mountains in the distance.)

The Voiles' House – 5:32 PM MST

Michael: We made it. We made it to our destination. Look at that sunset. Dang! That’s a nice sunset!

(Todd holds his hand above his head about 20 feet away from Michael.)

Michael: Is this a long distance Todd-five?

Todd: (Distantly) Mhm.

Michael: Alright...

Todd: Ready?

(Michael holds his hand out as he walks toward Todd.)

Michael: It’s comin’ in. It’s coming in for a landing.

(The two high-five.)

Michael: Bzzzshhh!

Todd: That was really... anticlimactic.

(Michael, Todd, and Katelyn stand on the front porch as Josh Voiles opens the door.)

Josh Voiles: Eyyyyyy!

Michael: Hiiiii!

Todd: Hi buddy!

Michael: Hi!

Josh: Welcome!

(Michael gives Josh a hug.)

Michael: Hi, I’m really sleepy so I’m just gonna go to sleep on you.

Potbelly

(Michael gasps excitedly.)

Michael: Potbelly Sandwich Shop! Dang! Now every time we pass through Utah, this is gonna be the place to stop!

(Todd and Michael low-five behind Todd's back as they walk into Potbelly.)

Michael: Dang!

(A synth drones over the Thursday December 29, 2016 screen.)

Katelyn Salem's Jeep – 7:58 AM MST

Michael: It’s almost 8 o’clock in the morning. We’re gonna go to a pancake place and then we’re gonna hit the road.

(Mellow percussive bass music plays over a shot of a tram crossing the road. The music continues under the dialogue at the pancake house.)

The Original Pancake House

Michael: (To Josh) This is the smallest number of people that I’ve ever seen inside this restaurant.

9:11 AM MST

(Everyone stands outside in the parking lot after having eaten.)

Michael: Bye Josh.

Josh: Bye! Love you, baby.

Driving North on I-15

(Mellow bass music continues over shots of a snowy landscape along the interstate with mountains in the distance and a "Welcome to Idaho" sign. The music continues under the dialogue at the rest area.)

Cherry Creek Rest Area – 11:25 AM MST

(Todd stands in front of a vending machine.)

Todd: That’s why it won’t—yeah—it won’t do coins, so it’s okay. I’ll be fine.

Katelyn: You want something else, or—

Todd: Nooo...

Michael: The machine won’t take your money?

Todd: Nahhhh, it doesn’t think it’s any good.

(Katelyn walks up to the vending machine as she pulls a $5 bill out of her wallet.)

Todd: But look at the light—the light’s blinking, saying, “No money.”

Katelyn: Is that what blinking lights mean?

Todd: Yes.

Katelyn: Are you sure?

Todd: Yes.

(Katelyn tries to put the $5 bill into the vending machine.)

Todd: Unless you get it in, then it means somethin’ else.

(Todd laughs as the vending machine takes the $5 bill and then rejects it.)

Katelyn: Maybe, uh... Maybe it doesn’t like this Lincoln.

(Icicles hang down from the snow-covered roof of the rest stop.)

Michael: Look at them icicles! Some big ones over there.

Driving North on I-15

(Bass music continues over shots of the snowy landscape out the front windshield and the sun setting behind some mountains.)

Outside the Synema Studios Office – 8:16 PM MST

Michael: Boom! Todd, we made it!

(Todd holds up both his hands and Michael high-fives both of them at the same time with one hand.)

Michael: Does that count as one?

Todd: No, that’s two.

Michael: That’s two?

Todd: ‘Cause it was— Well, I don’t know.

Michael: I don’t really know how they work either. We made it back to Missoula, Montana, and now we have to unload some equipment.

Michael Aranda's Apartment

Michael: Alright, I’m back in my own bathroom. I’m about to find out how much I weigh.

(Michael shrugs at the camera through the bathroom mirror.)

Michael: This is gonna be interesting.

(Kelsey sits on Michael's bed in his bedroom.)

Michael: Hi Kelsey.

Kelsey Cote: (Meekly) Hi.

Michael: I just weighed myself.

Kelsey: Can I guess?

Michael: Guess.

Kelsey: Higher than 190?

Michael: Maybe. Maybe not.

Kelsey: You just went on vacation. And it’s Christmas.

Michael: Yup.

Kelsey: 192?

Michael: Nope.

Kelsey: Lower?

(Kelsey makes a face at Michael.)

Michael: Maybe.

Kelsey: (Laughing) Higher?

Michael: Maybe.

Kelsey: (Laughing) Umm... That’s not how that works! Hotter or cold— Hot or cold from— Oh, I guess that (laughing) doesn’t work.

Michael: You need to guess one more time before I can do that.

Kelsey: (Still laughing) 195?

Michael: You’re getting warmer.

Kelsey: 200?!

Michael: Uh... that is warmer.

Kelsey: Is this the heaviest you’ve ever been?

Michael: Yup.

Kelsey: 203?

Michael: Now you’re getting colder.

Kelsey: 202?

Michael: Now you’re—

Kelsey: 201.

Michael: Warmer, warmer.

Kelsey: 2 and a half?

Michael: Warmer.

Kelsey: (Quietly) 201?

Michael: Colder.

Kelsey: 201 and (laughing) a half?

Michael: Colder.

Kelsey: You gave me opposite directions.

Michael: No.

Kelsey: 200.

Michael & Kelsey: Warmer.

(Kelsey laughs.)

Kelsey: 199.

Michael: Warmer.

Kelsey: 198?

Michael: Yes.

Kelsey: Oh.

Michael: (Dejectedly) I weigh 198 pounds.

Kelsey: Well... New year’s coming up. That’s when most people start their workout adventures.

Michael: In, like, the last month or two, I’ve gone from never even seeing anything above 190 on a scale to 198.

Kelsey: It’s just the Christmas spirit in your belly.

("Outro" plays over the end screen.)
