Michael's Car

Michael: (Rubbing hair) My hair got smaller. There's still some blonde in it. I dunno how I feel about it. Haircuts always make me feel weird for ... 2 or 3 days.

Katelyn: I like it.

Michael: My head's a different shape now.

Michael: That's the little vehicle that drives around and gives people parking tickets, and I like that it's called The Interceptor 3.

Michael: I'm on an everlasting quest to find the world's spiciest ginger beer, So far, this Cock and Bull brand is the best I've found. But if any you have any insight into legendarily hot ginger beers. Let me know. It's important.

SciShow Studio

Michael: We just shot an episode of SciShow about really uplifting things, like the Chernobyl disaster. So fun times are ahead here on Scishow. (Spinning in a circle) This is fun.

Restaurant

Michael: I was just asked if I had balls (turns to Caitlin) Did you say in my face?

Caitlin: Yeah.

Michael: What does that mean?

Kristen: Like in your face.

Stefan: Like up in and around you face. Slapping' against your cheek.

Michael: Oh. Like not apart of my own anatomy.

Caitlin: No.

Michael: Not like I have testicles growing off my face, someone else's testicles are in my face. Would I prefer that they're shaven? Is that the question?

Caitlin: Shaven or not shaven?

Michael: Probably shaven.

Caitlin: What about you Katelyn?

Katelyn: (Bursts out laughing) Erm, I mean shaven is always better but...

Caitlin: What? But I think that's...

Katelyn: I Don't know that I'm that picky...

Kristen: From those shaven testicles.

Caitlin: What did you say?

Kristen: I said it doesn't really matter to me.

Katelyn: Why? Do you like the fur? Are you a fur girl?

Caitlin: The people downstairs said non-shaven too. Err said shaven. Because then you start thinking about it and you're like, "Why did you shave your balls?" And it's like I get too far in my head.

Michael: Why do you shave your armpit? It's just some people just don't want to have hair.

Caitlin: Yeah that's true.

Michael: What caused this conversation to come up in the first place?

Caitlin: I don't know. Stefan was wondering about it.

Stefan: Stefan exists. Therefore this conversation...

Michael: ...Good.

Michael's Kitchen

Michael: Back when Blu-ray and HD DVD were fighting the format war of two thousand whatever, I picked the HD DVD side. Apparently I choose poorly. But now I have this HD DVD player that I don't know what to do with. I feel weird just throwing it away... But I don't think there's any use for it anymore.

Michael's computer

Michael: I just finished editing the "Hank seduces a tree video" that we filmed last week. It's pretty weird... so look forward to that.

Stefan's car

Michael: (Singing) We're picking up Laura, from the airport. Picking her up, from the airport. From the airport. Picking her up, from the airport.

Stefan: (Random screaming)

Katelyn: There's nobody here.

Michael: There's nobody here?

Michael and Stefan: (Singing) There's nobody here. Nobody here. Nobody here. There's nobody here. There's nobody here at the airport tonight.

Later

Michael: We got Laura

Stefan: We did it!

Michael: We did it.

Laura: Hello.

Stefan: Somebody's got the emergency flashers ahead.

Michael: Oh

Stefan: Oh. Making a drop.

Michael: Drug bust.

Walmart

Michael: And now we've come to the happiest place on earth - Walmart!

Stefan: (in the background) Walmart!

Michael: Stefan's all excited for some new Oreos that are coming out.

Stefan: Two new flavours, man! Two new flavours, wanna try 'em out!

Michael: But they haven't arrived at the store yet.

Stefan: Not out yet.

Michael: What are they?

Stefan: Uh, it's, we got cookie dough, Oreo cookie dough, and Oreo it's crispy crispy marshmallow, which is basically rice crispy treats (mumbles).

Michael: They have peanut butter flavor.

Stefan: They have peanut butter. They have vanilla, mint.

Michael: They have berry burst ice cream

Stefan: Lemon

Michael: The birthday cake ones are my favorite.

Stefan: Yeah, one day.

Michael: One day.

Michael What kind of pizza are you doing?

Stefan: Well this is Italian style meat trio. That sounds good.

Michael But this one's named Bianca.

Stefan: That's not good. Look, it's got green things on it.

Michael Uhh, sick.

Stefan: Gross.

Michael Ho ho's. Be my valentine cakes. Honey buns. Strawberry shortcake rolls, cocoa cremes, zebra cakes. Nutty bars, football brownies

(Both, Laughing)

Michael Butterhorns, blackberry fruit pie, apple fruit pie, lemon fruit pie, old fashioned glazed maple donuts, cracked wheat bread.

Michael Don't forget the bacon.

Michael's computer

Michael I'm looking over the stats page from last week's daily vlog experiment, and this is the total number of views here, and you can see that there's nothing really remarkable about this graph here, but as soon as you switch over to minutes watched per day, you can see quite a big difference, because those videos are substantially longer, umm. So as far as the YouTube algorithms are concerned, this is a good thing. YouTube likes it when people are watching longer. This is the audience retention; I don't really know what this means exactly, but, you know, the line is higher, so that means it's probably good. This is probably one of my favorite graphs, number of comments. So you can see there is significantly more comment activity on the more recent daily vlog style videos going on here. Umm, this is total number of subscribers over the past three months. You can see there's an overall downward trend with 335 net loss subscribers over the last three months. Umm, but this is in the neighborhood where I was doing the daily vlog things, so there's a good spike in there. I don't know if that's exactly where that came from, but I think it's worth further study. We also have a list here of the most engaged and influential viewers. Bringing in the top 3, we have 1800SCHWEEEET, thehappyplate, and Michael Morgan. So special thanks to those guys, and everybody here who takes time to watch this stuff that I make, leave comments and all that fun stuff.

Michael at his desk

Michael I do think that these longer format videos are a better tool for audience engagement and community building, which are things that are important to me. I've been watching a lot of the Trippy's daily vlogs to try to figure out what they do to reach out and build their audience, engage their audience, so I'd also be interested in any thoughts or ideas that you guys had on that front or building this community. Let me know, and I'll probably, maybe, possibly see you... tomorrow.
